FAQ

A DPS sim runs your exact character — gear, talents, enchants and gems — through thousands of simulated fights in the SimulationCraft engine and averages the result. Unlike a target dummy, it accounts for procs, cooldowns and fight length, giving you a reliable DPS number and a breakdown of where your damage comes from.

Load your character from the Armory by region, realm and name, or paste the /simc export from the SimulationCraft addon, then press Simulate. A minute later you get your DPS, a damage breakdown and buff uptimes.

Install the SimulationCraft addon from CurseForge, type /simc in the game chat and copy the text with Ctrl+C. Paste it into the Addon tab — this is the most accurate way to sim, because it captures your exact gear including items in your bags.

A sim is a controlled environment: the default Patchwerk fight is a stationary single target with a perfect rotation and full uptime. Real encounters add movement, downtime and mechanics, so in-game DPS is usually lower. Use sim results to compare setups, not as a promise.

Yes — the same SimulationCraft engine, free and right in your browser, with no premium queue. Besides Quick Sim there is Top Gear to compare your items, Droptimizer for loot and HealSim for healers.
